We Need Ideas ... and some of my life ramblings

My dear parents are celebrating their 20th anniversary on June 10th - and we are looking for suggestions as to how to make it 'memorable' for them. Do you have any ideas for making this special day a wonderful memory? If so please leave me a comment and tell me! :)

My life has been busy the last few days - no, make that weeks.... ;) We had some car trouble on Friday and our van is in the shop. We are praying that it can be fixed easily and that it will not be a burden on our finances.
I found an exercise DVD at a garage sale for 75 cents, decided to try it, and I love it! I didn't realize it until I played it at home but one whole section of the DVD is all exercise moves taken straight from ballet. I was thrilled. I've missed my ballet classes since moving here to GA and now I can do my own ballet at home! :)

Last Sunday we attended a delightful birthday celebration for one of our friends, and they had a 'golf-cart scavenger hunt'. That was extremely fun. They divided our large group up into teams of about 5 or 6 people and sent us out with a list that had over 100 items on it that we had to photograph with our digital cameras to prove we'd seen it. Some of the items were activities to do, such as spelling out a word using your team members as the letters.
My team ended up winning with 527 points. I'm not sure how many things we had crossed off our list, but it was a 5-page list and on each page there were only 1 or 2 things we had not found or done... so that means we found about 95 out of the 100. :) In two hours, no less, driving all around town.

I've been busy with my etsy banner shop, my etsy jewelry store, and writing for Meditations of His Love, a young ladies' devotional blog.

And with all else that's going on in my life right now I read the Viking Quest series by Lois Walfrid Johnson, one of my very favorite children's book authors. The books are easy for me to read, as I am used to delving through complicated works like The Complete Sherlock Holmes collection and G. A. Henty's historical fiction, but the Viking Quest series is compelling and so interesting that I was on the edge of my seat through the whole series. :) Especially in the last book.

I have changed my background yet again :D but this time I really like it. I designed the header myself and this look will be here for quite a while. (really! :D)

Love & Hugs!

  1. My Parents 20th was last june...and I throw them a party. My daddy is a pastor so we had our whole church there along with their preacher friends. It turned out really well and they had a great time.

  2. Hey Julia! If I think of anything for your parents Anniversary I'll let you know! =:D

Oh neat! I am glad you are enjoying your new workout video! =:) What a great deal!

The scavenger hunt sounds fun! Wow! You certainly found a lot of the items! =:)

I have read that series too! It was awhile ago and I only read the first three books (borrowed from the library of course) =;) I ws looking again at the books you have down at the bottom of the sidebar and I forgot how many books you and I have read and how much we have in common! =:D I have read and love most of the books on your list! =:)

    Love and Hugs!

p.s. - Are you posting on MOHL this week? We were wondering. Thanks! =:D

  3. Hi There,

    Katie ~
A party sounds fun! To me, anyway. :) My dad doesn't really enjoy them all that much. I'm glad your parents had a great time though! :)

    Rachel ~

  5. Hey Juila,

For my parents 30th anniversry we had a small party with a few close friends of the family. We had desert the we got some sparkling grape juice my brother said a prayer then just told them what an example they are to us. We just had fun.

    In Christ Love,

  6. Greetings, Miss Julia! :)
    Anniversary? Cool!

  7. Your new background and header are simply delightful, Miss Julia!
    Joyfully in Jesus,

  8. It is my parents aniverary today, they are just going to dinner together. They forgot all about their anniversary until yesterday. Last year they completely missed it!

  9. I love your new "look." That's exciting about the exercise video, which one is it?

What if you gave your parents a gift certificate to a nice restaurant and then cleaned the house while they were gone? Let us know what you decide.

  10. I love Lois Walfrid Johnson books, but the Viking Quest was actually my least favorite. The Riverboat Adventures were my favorite. They're always good for a little light reading :-) Now Sherlock Holmes and G.A. Henty actually take all of my concentration :-)

  11. Hey Julia! I can't think of anything! If I do, I'll let you know!

That sounds like so much fun to do! What a neat scavenger hunt!

I love your new blog design! It is very cute1 I just put up my new summer look! Hey, did you know I am hlding a photography contest? Please enter.

    Much Love,
    Hannah Paige

  12. Hi Julia!
Sorry I haven't been on here for a while!
Mom & Dad just had their 21st anniversary Thursday. I can't think of anything right now to make it memorable, but if I do, I'll tell you!
The Toussaints told us Gene's birthday was a blast! Too bad we missed it! :(
The Hynsons have said the Viking Quest series were good, but I've never read them. (Well I'm busy right now with other books I'm reading, so I can't start them now :) ) See ya at Church!
